I recently got the opportunity to spend the weekend at the Royalton White Sands all-inclusive Resort in Falmouth.
I had some family visiting so what better time to go check this newly renovated hotel out.
I happen to know one of the managers there so I supposedly got a “diamond club” upgrade.
Now to be honest, I appreciate it the upgrade, but I’m still trying to figure out what it was all about.
I was told that I had access to a special upgraded bar, but the bar was so far out of the way that I didn’t end going there at all.
Other than that, the hotel itself was really nice. Everything looked fairly new and clean. And like most all-inclusive resorts here in Jamaica, the staff and service was excellent.
If I had to find a complaint about the service, it would be the guy that kept pressuring me to come to the “time-share” meeting. He claims it’s not a “time-share” meeting, but I know they just changed the name because people’s guards go up once the hear timeshare.
I understand this is how he makes a living but I was only there for a weekend. No way I’m spending 2 hours of it doing something I’m definitely not interested in.
The room and bathroom was nice and had a modern feel. Didn’t stay in their much so not much to comment on there. Comfortable bed, nice little couch, TV, internet, etc. The usual… The only negative I could come up with is that the toilet was kinda small (lol). I’m not a fan of those square-shaped toilets. That’s just a personal preference though. I’m sure most people wouldn’t have a problem.
You have 3 restaurants to choose from for dinner. They have Italian, a steakhouse and Japanese (habachi).
The first night I tried the Japanese. The best part of this was the entertainment. The staff was great. They had everyone singing and laughing all night.
The food, well, it’s what you’d expect from an all-inclusive hotel. Good enough, but nothing was exceptional.
Night 2 I went to the Italian restaurant. The food here in my opinion was the best of all the restaurants. I had the lamb and was pleasantly surprised.
The best part was the dessert. I wish I could remember what it was called but the best description I can come up with is a white flan. Not as sweet as flan but smooth and delicious.
The steakhouse was also decent but I’m not a big fan of steaks. I had the New York steak and it was decent. But someone that’s more of a steak connoisseur would be better to comment on that.
In addition to the dinner restaurants, they have a sports bar and the buffet. The good thing about the buffet is that you’ll definitely find something in their that you’ll like. Nothing special, but you’ll be ok.
All in all, I’d have to give the food 3.5 to 4 stars. Which I think is pretty good for an all inclusive.
Now, my absolute favorite part of this hotel is the entertainment for kids. I went there with my 5 year old daughter and she had a blast! She didn’t want to leave.
The swimming area for kids is excellent. The water is just shallow enough so you don’t have to worry about them going under. And they’ll spend hours here running around.
They have a day-care setup where you can just drop the kids off, and go have some adult fun at the bar. And your kids wont even notice you’re missing.
The daycare has a a nice playground, all kinds of video games, and art craft activities to keep them busy. And the staff there was great. I felt comfortable leaving my baby-girl there.
All in all, I’d have to say that Royalton White Sands is so far, one of my favorite kiddie friendly hotel in Jamaica. I usually find that the better hotels are reserved for adults only. But if you’re coming with your family, I think you’ll be happy here.
